Senhoa has partnered with Only The Brave Foundation, the not-for-profit organization established by Italian fashion group OTB (the parent company of iconic fashion brands Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni, Viktor & Rolf and more).
Italian fashion entrepreneur Renzo Rosso is the President of OTB and founder of OTB Foundation. His partner Arianna Alessi is the director of OTB Foundation.
Driven by and based on a shared mission to helping women and children in underprivileged communities, the partnership protects and empowers women who are vulnerable to or survivors of slavery in Cambodia, where human trafficking is a severe and prevalent social issue.
With the $40,000 grant provided by Only The Brave Foundation, 20 female survivors of sexual exploitation have gained access to a whole year of employment. Through training programs, these women can handcraft every piece of Senhoa jewelry and earn fair wages, allowing them to gain safety, achieve economic independence and even support an entire village in the country.
Additionally, the collaboration involves supporting 160 street working children and their families in “Lotus Kids’ Club” – Senhoa’s early intervention program – thus benefiting a total of approximately 550 people.
In return for the financial support from Only The Brave Foundation, survivor women artisans specially crafted bracelets for OTB employees. Featuring Senhoa’s signature Cambodian weaving technique, these bracelets further raise awareness about Senhoa’s humanitarian programs.
“Empowering women to transform their lives is one of our priorities at Only The Brave Foundation. In light of the fact that majority of trafficking victims are women and girls, we are proud to be part of Senhoa’s initiative that supports at-risk women through safe and dignified recruitment. It’s a sustained and culturally sensitive solution,” comments Arianna Alessi, Director at Only The Brave Foundation. “I would like to thank Senhoa Ambassador Coco Rocha, who presented me with this opportunity, and also those women artisans for the beautifully crafted bracelets from Cambodia. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to encourage conscious consumerism among OTB employees.”
“Our passion is to create opportunities for survivor artisans to earn an income, share their stories and raise awareness against modern slavery. The jewelry is another form of advocacy for this issue,” says Lisa T.D. Nguyen, Founder and Board Member of Senhoa. “We are grateful for the partnership with Only the Brave Foundation to create a thriving social business so that we can help and inspire more women around the world.”
